Skin Deep

Daniels tells the story of her Jewish Grandmother Edith who emigrated from Romania to England in 1906 when she was eight years old. During the making of the film Edith dies, just after her 100th birthday and Daniels reflects on her life and the devastating affect this seemingly benign old lady had on her family. Forbidden from marrying the man she loves she is forced into an arranged marriage then overwhelms her son with her suffocating love.Denying his homosexuality he escapes into an early marriage.Skin Deep is a tragic-comic documentary, which movingly reveals how the burden of unfulfilled desire is carried on through the generations
